Baby Bump #2 Update
Friday, November 16, 2012
1. How Far Along? 12 weeks
2. Due Date? May 31, 2013 :-)
3. Do you know the gender? Not yet. I think I know what it is, but we'll see in about a month or so.
4. Size of the baby? About the size of a PLUM (2.1 inches) (How Big is Baby?)
5. Total weight gain? Down 15 lbs as of my ER visit on Tuesday.
6. Maternity Clothes? No actually. I'm back in my regular jeans; buttoned & zipped. I've been using the belly band to keep them up.... I wore a maternity shirt today for my 12 week picture. I just think weekly photos are cuter with a preggo top lol.
7. Any stretch marks? No.
8. How's the sleep? Pretty good. I've been soooo exhausted lately, thanks to not eating, vomiting what I do eat & the suppositories. I'm not gonna lie, I sleep every chance I get.
9. Best moment this week? Honestly, the ER on Tuesday. While it's never enjoyable to go, at least I officially have the diagnosis of Hyperemesis Gravidarum. And we are actively working on treating it. I've been using the suppositories for nausea every 12 hours & it has helped a lot; I haven't been sick since Tuesday *knock on wood!*
I actually found a little blurb about HG on babycenter that I liked. It sums up how I've been feeling pretty accurately.
I actually found a little blurb about HG on babycenter that I liked. It sums up how I've been feeling pretty accurately.
"Never have I felt more useless, more flawed, more unworthy of being born a woman, a giver of life, than I did when I was suffering from Hyperemesis. There is little joy in pregnancy for HG sufferers. There is only fear and misery and guilt and inner conflict, missed work, lost jobs, strained relationships and the horrible realization that no one around you, no one, understands what you are going through.
In simple terms, Hyperemesis Gravidarum is severe morning sickness. In truth, it’s a debilitating, potentially life-threatening pregnancy disease. HER’s goal is to raise awareness and money for research so the death and suffering can stop.
A press release, published on Wall Street Journal’s Market Watch, describes the condition like this:
“HG is a severe form of unrelenting, excessive nausea and vomiting in pregnancy that usually extends beyond the first trimester, and if severe and/or inadequately treated, it is typically associated with weight loss, dehydration, starvation and potential loss of life. HG is the most common cause of hospitalization in the first half of pregnancy.”
I attempted to describe my experience in a recent post, titled Pregnant and wanting to die.
While the CDC estimates that .05 to 2 percent of pregnant women suffer from HG globally, the HER foundation suspects this disease is more prevalent than we know. With lack of awareness comes a lack of accurate diagnoses and many pregnant women out there are still being told they are simply experiencing normal morning sickness."
10. Missing anything? My husband & my energy.... also, my bed!! I seriously can't wait to sleep in our king sized bed again. Just a few more weeks.
11. Baby Movements? No, I don't feel any movements yet.
12. Any cravings? Yes, actually. I've been craving Arby's!! Go figure. It's sad that I ate a roast beef sandwich & curly fries 4 times last week & still lost another 3 lbs. Arby's is also the only thing that I haven't been vomiting back up. Weird. I never had anything like that with John.
13. What makes you sick or queasy? John's formula, Chicken, dirty diapers, water, sweet things.
14. What pregnancy symptoms are there? Uterine twitches, some cramping, fatigue all day, MOOD SWINGS; I cry over everything, forgetfulness, heartburn, acne- its really bad this week, again... very stuffy/bloody nose, nausea, vomiting & pregnancy rash (PUPPS). I had PUPPS with John; a very mild case thankfully. It never caused me any pain or burning like a lot of women can get with PUPPS, just itching occasionally. I noticed it coming back the other morning in the shower on my legs & arms; small redish/purpley dots with the skin surround them being a little red.
15. Any labor signs? Nope.
16. Can you still wear your wedding rings? Sure can.
17. Your mood is...? Overall pretty good. I can hardly wait to see Nathan on TUESDAY.
18. Looking forward to? TUESDAY!!!! I seriously can't wait to be with Nathan again!
