John has gained 10+ pounds since he was born & has grown about 5 inches in length!
He is such a sweet little boy. John is always full of smiles & giggles. He loves the world around him. Nothing makes him happier than being outside in the sun with the wind blowing across his face. He loves to explore, as I'm sure most babies do, but he's curious about everything. He loves faces. John constantly is watching those around him & when we're at home he loves looking at all of our family pictures up on the wall. His favorite things to do are to take whatever you have in your hand. This is how we discovered that a 68 cent bottle of water is better than any toy I could buy him from a store. He'll talk & squeal to a bottle of water all day long. He loves to stand & bounce [with help of course]. John loves attention. He adores being held & spoken to. There's definitely no shortage of that around here with grandparents & uncles & an aunt who are thrilled to dive in on any opportunity they get. He may be just 5 months old but he has a lot of determination. If he wants something he finds a way to get it. Just the other day I had him on the floor for some tummy time & I placed one of his favorite toys a few inches in front of him & he scooted himself on his belly until he was on top of the toy! I couldn't believe it! We love reading to John & he loves being read to. Currently his favorite book is a recordable book that we have with Nathan's voice. He laughs & smiles & squeals with delight every time we open the book. He's only spent 18 days with Nathan, but he knows who his daddy is & he loves Nathan very much!
John has been teething for a while now but just this last week he started to actively teethe. His first little tooth is visible, just barely poking out of his gums. The other tooth isn't too far behind.
We are full steam ahead into solid foods. He's really not too picky of an eater. Sometimes it takes a few minutes for him to take a second bite of something new but he is his father's child & will eat anything! Some of his favorite combos are Whole Wheat with Peaches, Barley with Apples & Blueberries, Oatmeal with Pears, Sweet Potatoes with Peas, & Rice with Green Beans. Apple Juice is a new favorite as well.
I never knew I could love someone as much as I love John. Of course I have an insane amount of love for my husband, but the love of a mother for her child is totally different. Every day I am amazed that he is my son & I can't help but wonder what I did to be blessed with such a beautiful, happy, smart little boy. He has filled a void in my heart that I didn't even know was there. It's been 5 months but I can't remember what I did every day with out him. I love you, John Anthony!
