This past week has been CRAZY!!! Well last Thursday or Friday, whichever day my non stress test was, my blood pressure was starting to get a little bit high but John was reacting fine so it wasn't a huge concern. Well, Monday at my appointment with the OB my blood pressure was crazy high! Not as high as it was while in Germany but still at preeclamptic levels (anything over 140/90 is considered preeclamptic). I thought maybe it was because I was just excited to see how much I had progressed from last week but after having my blood pressure taken THREE times over about an hour time frame it was still bad. The doctor asked about my weekly activities & coincidently enough I had had a relatively low key week. So he told me to continue to do nothing & if my blood pressure was as high as it was in a few days at my next non stress test he would send me to the hospital to be induced that day. I started to freak out! Nathan is still in Germany & won't be landing here until later in the evening on Tuesday. The only good thing about that appointment was hearing that I was now 2 cm dilated. Thankfully at the non stress test yesterday, my blood pressure was lower than it was on Monday so I did not have to make a trip to the hospital. Now I'm just waiting for Monday to roll around. I've been contracting regularly through out the past few days so I'm anxious to see if I'm any more dilated. I'd be surprised if I wasn't with all the contractions actually. At night I get horrible back contractions; usually about an hour or so after going to bed I wake up because they are so strong. I have a pretty high pain tolerance, especially when it comes to reproductive pains because Endometriosis is painful, but these are 10 times worse than anything I've ever felt. The pain is mainly in the lower back area & goes down to my knees. So for the past two days I've felt like my back has been used as a punching bag. It is SO sore. The OB says this is a good indication that I'll have back labor- super lol. I've been debating the whole 9 months about getting an epidural. I think it would be really awesome to say that I toughed it out but if these "fake" back contractions are just the tip of the ice burg of what I'll be feeling on the big day, forget it!
Other than all that crazy stuff, my week has been good. I went with my mom & her friend on Tuesday for a pedicure & lunch which was fun & so relaxing. I love getting pedicures & the lady was so sweet. She rubbed my feet & calves for quite a while which felt AMAZING. Then last night was the relief society dinner for the birthday of the relief society. Even though I couldn't eat the dinner (chicken, bleh!), dessert was good :) & it was a fun time. Bloom where you're planted was the theme & the message that came with that was one that I really needed to hear. It's been frustrating moving back & forth. So instead of feeling out of place & just in limbo all the time I need to just embrace it; something that will be more applicable when I go back to Germany I'm sure. I don't feel so out of place here since it's where I grew up but sometimes those feelings still sneak in.
I finally made it out to the fabric store yesterday to buy the things I would need for John's quilt. He has SO many quilts/blankets but they're all really big or small like receiving blanket size. I wanted to make him one he could carry around with him & snuggle with during nap time or bed time. On Facebook there was a lady's page, D's (military custom purses), that popped up on my newsfeed & it was a picture of a patchwork quilt that she had made for someone using an old Army uniform. How perfect! Nathan has SO many old uniforms because for Afghanistan they have to wear Multicam, not the digital print. So after looking through her album the wheels in my head started turning & I am SO excited to get this done! My deadline is Tuesday because I know I won't want to dedicate the time to it after Nathan gets here. It's going to be 25x25. There are three fabrics on the front; the uniform, some minky fabric & a flannel. Then the back will be all mink & the binding is satin. I've never worked with the mink or satin so I'm sure I'll be in for a treat but I am super excited; especially for all the different textures since babies like that. My 2nd project I won't be able to start until Nathan gets here because it involves the car seat which is in Germany. I've decided to make a car seat canopy instead of buying one. I have 2 coupons actually for free ones from carseatcanopy.com but when I looked at their selection I wasn't crazy about any of them. So, while I was laying awake in bed last night I was thinking of what I wanted the canopy to look like and decided it would be really fun to have the top be a matching patchwork to the quilt I'm making. I found some dimensions of a car seat canopy that I like and now I just need to do the math to figure out how big to make the quilt squares. I will not be doing a satin edge to it though lol. Who knows if I'm really motivated I might get both done before Nathan comes since I have the dimensions now for the canopy.
Pictures to come soon :)
