Yesterday was {finally} John's 2 year check- up with the doctor. So, here are some stats...
Weight: 28.80 lbs {56%}
Height: 35 inches {58%}
Head Circumference: 19.75 inches {not sure on the percentile, but I'm gonna say huge lol.}
--------------------
*Typically only eats one good meal a day. He grazes all day of fruits & veggies. His favorites are: apples, bananas, grapes, carrots, cucumbers, raspberries, strawberries & frozen peas.
*He usually sleeps in until 7am. Sometimes a little later.
*Takes one nap in the afternoon. Usually around 2 hours, though if he woke up early it'll be closer to 3 hours.
*Carries his Buzz & Woody dolls of various sizes everywhere with him.
*Really is into race cars & trucks. He uses the couch, elliptical & the counter as race tracks.
*Starting to realize that being nice to Ellie is better than being mean. I love watching him give her hugs & kisses or offer a toy or a pat on the head when she's crying. Today he fed her some of his snack which she really appreciated :)
*Loves the outdoors- anything & everything about it.
*Enjoys coloring with dry erase markers. And sharpies >:-/
*He's a lefty! Takes after his daddy.
*Knows how to unlock our doors-- ugh! He is a smart little booger!
*Loves to be a helper. He throws away all his diapers & Ellie's for me. He likes to put dishes in the sink too. After he completes a task, he always comes running to us clapping his hands & squealing & we always are sure to praise his efforts & good attitude.
*Calls Jesus, "cheese". I was showing him some pictures of Jesus & asked him who He was & that's what he responded with every time ha.
*Loves to pray-- he will typically start to pray over us when we are praying. He also will fold his arms & pray whenever I refill his sippy cup through out the day.
---------------------
John is a very healthy & very active little boy! He has typical 2 year old tantrums & thankfully the doctor had some really good advice on how to handle them. Luckily, John threw quite a few tantrums while the doctor was in the exam room with us {one being because we wouldn't let him eat food out of the trash can}, so the doctor was able to see first hand what John does. I don't think I've ever met a toddler who will throw himself down on the floor & then proceed to smack his forehead on the ground. But, thats what John does & it scares me! I don't want him to hurt his poor noggin.
We also decided that we're going to put John into some speech therapy for a while. He's very smart & says a lot of words when asked, but his mind is going way too fast for his mouth. He usually just jumbles up all his words & has his own language really for communicating. He can understand us when we communicate & follows directions, but we are having a hard time understanding him. So, we hope that maybe the tantrums will subside a little bit when he can articulate himself a little more. The speech therapist will come over to our home next Friday to do an in-home evaluation & then we'll go from there. I'm really looking forward to it!
I'm grateful that we have the resources to help John out a little bit. Hopefully things will be going a smoother in our house.
And yes, still working on his 2 year photos. I am so behind :-/
So, just enjoy a few random pictures that I don't think I've posted on the blog yet.
