The Pumpkin Ranch

John turned 19 months on the 17th & so this post will be about what we did that day :)

Just some John stats really quick--

25lbs

33 inches tall

wears 18-24 month clothes

wears a size 5/6 toddler shoe. his feet are incredibly wide, so its been hard finding shoes that don't bother him.

he loves playing with pots & pans.

he's really into stacking objects & putting smaller objects inside larger objects, dumping them out & repeat.

loves to sing & dance. his favorites are "you are my sunshine" & "I am a Child of God".

outdoors boy all the way. he throws huge fits when we have to go inside.

starting to get picky about foods-- his likes & dislikes are always changing.

learning his manners.

loves to give mom & dad hugs & kisses :) sometimes ellie too.

We decided to head to The Pumpkin Ranch on the corner of the Katterbach part of base. It's very small but close to where we live. They had such cool looking squash & this cute little wooden tractor!

Once the sun started to set, it got chilly pretty quickly, so miss Ellie hung out in the jeep (which was only a few feet away from where we were).

10 Euros for Ellie?? I don't think so. This little gal is PRICELESS!

When John got bored of running for the road, he decided taking a bath in some mud would be fun :) ohhhh what a mess that was!

The gate into Katterbach.

There's also a flower field called Blumen. There's a stand set up & you just drop money in & collect your flowers. Germans are very honest people, so there's never anyone there. They just trust that you don't take more than you pay for. It works the same for the pumpkins & squash too. You would never see that in America... ever.

I'm glad our little booger was able to get messy & run around outside on his 19 month "birthday".

  1. Such wonderful pics! You're getting really good! :)

There's a small farm and fruit/vege stand near my parents house. It's on the honor system- they have a locked box you drop your money into. In the past few years though ppl have been stealing more and more, so they now try to keep workers closer to the stand. Sad! I love the idea of flowers! How quaint!

  2. Thanks, Sarah :)

It is sad how dishonest people are. It's nice to have all these fruit/veggie stands and flower patches everywhere. Strawberry patches are really big here in the summer where you just pay a flat fee & go pick to your hearts content. I love it!!
