Independence Day 2013

This year was Nathan & I's 3rd Independence Day since being married, but only the 2nd that we've been able to spend together. We were newly weds for our first one, last year he was deployed so John & I celebrated with my family without him. It was nice to do our own thing & be together, but I SOOO missed my family. Every year on the 4th, everyone on my mom's side comes to our house & we make home made mint chocolate chip ice cream, grill yummy burgers of different varieties (deer, sausage, etc... my uncle is a hunter so its divine!), spend way too much money on fireworks & sit outside all night, watching the madness unfold, laughing & enjoying each other's company.

Anyway, this year we went to a small town not too far from where we live to have a picnic lunch across the street from the castle & town square by a cute little pond. It was great weather & we had fun walking around together enjoying the scenery.

Even though we couldn't do fireworks (Americans are prohibited from doing them except for the fireworks show on base which was at 10pm, so we didn't go), we had fun =)
