We Made It!!!

The past two or three weeks have been some of the most stressful weeks ever! Before heading off for Germany, Nathan, John & I had to set out on a road trip to Iowa & Nebraska to visit Nathan's family & my grandparents. I was really anxious about traveling all this time in a car with John but he did extremely well. I was sooo thankful. I had to ride in the back with him the last hour and a half to Iowa & the last hour & a half to Nebraska. Other than that he slept & entertained himself. The trip was fun & overall smooth sailing. Although, the morning we were checking out of the hotel in Iowa to head to Nebraska, we had a flat tire so that was a bummer. Luckily, since we had my mom's car we were able to use her AAA account to have a guy come & put the donut on. Nathan tried to do it but since his hand is broken he couldn't. Nathan was also able to save us a lot of money by taking the car to a guy that he knows.. he only charged us $13 to plug the hole (they were brand new tires too...)

After getting back from our little trip, I had a hair appointment. I had set it up weeks ago & couldn't decide if I was just going to trim my hair up or chop it. I had been wanting to just get rid of all my hair for a while because John thinks its the funniest thing ever to pull it, plus it's such a pain to fix every morning. My hair is already thick, course & curly & pregnancy just makes it even worse. But, I also like being able to just throw it up when I'm feeling lazy. Anyway, when I sat down in the chair and the hairdresser asked me what we were doing this time I told her to just get rid of it haha. She sure did!

She cut just about a foot of hair off! Its been a good two years since my hair was this short, but I like it. It's much easier to fix & take care of.

Nathan & I wanted to give my family a little keepsake of John so we made saltdough impressions of his hands & feet. We made a little plaque & two ornament; one of his hand & one of his foot. We also made a hand & foot ornament for us as well. It took a LONG time to get good impressions of his squirmy hands!! He just wanted to play with the dough, but eventually we did get some good ones :)

I don't have pictures of the finished product... oh well. But, it was fun & my parents were thrilled to have them!

Around this time, Nathan & I went to my OB appointment where he convinced me to get a flu shot. Well, I got sick afterwards which made flying all the way to Germany HORRIFIC. Seriously, it felt like there were needles stabbing my ear drums on all three flights. I lost about 90% of my hearing for the next few days. Then, of course, John got sick too. So, on Wednesday, we were at the clinic for a good part of the day switching our Tricare back to Tricare Prime Overseas & seeing the family doctor (who is a complete moron). Anyway, at first the doctor said John's issues were Acid Reflux; really? since when is green, thick snot, croupy cough, sneezing, chest congestion & lack of an appetite Acid Reflux. Then he examined me & decided that John had what I had; deep inner ear infections & sinus infections. So, we're both on antibiotics & are doing a little better. It's hanging on longer than I thought it would so hopefully after the weekend we will be back to normal.

Just catching up on some snuggles yesterday morning :) Don't judge how terrible I look lol.

Our trip to Germany was as effortless as it could be. John was SUPER AWESOME!! I was so relieved. We actually were told many times on the different flights that John was so well behaved & everyone who guessed his age thought he was at least one year old! Talk about a proud parent moment :) Surprisingly, John adjusted perfectly to the time change, probably better than I did.

Earlier this week, Nathan dug out the Christmas tote & we set up our tree & decorated it! I was so excited because last year (our first Christmas together as a married couple), we were stuck in the Army Lodge because we had just made it to Germany & didn't have a house & all of our stuff was in storage still. It wasn't much of a Christmas at all! So, it's nice to be able to decorate this year & have it feel like Christmas. John just loves the tree. Every morning when he wakes up I bring him out into the living room and sit him in front of it with his toys & he just plays.... so cute!!

You can't see very well, but our ornaments are blue & silver. The lights are obviously clear & they "glimmer".

We haven't taken family pictures in front of our tree yet, but we will because my Christmas present this year is probably going to be a new, nice camera! So, I'll be able to set it up on the tripod :) YAY. We did get family pictures in front of my parent's tree though on our last Sunday morning in the states. John looked like such a little stud in his new suit/vest combo!
