Mandy Came to Kansas!!

Wednesday night, I received one of the best surprises ever on my doorstep! MANDY RICE was standing there!!!

Lets back up.

Wednesday morning, my mom reminded me of her mammogram appointment later that afternoon. She said she had to be there 45 minutes early. She left the house at about 3:30pm & told me that it'd probably be a couple of hours since thats what it was last year. Not gonna lie... I really wasn't concerned about her appointment lol.

A while into her "appointment" I texted her asking how her boob smashing was going & she replied with she had just made it into the exam room & was waiting. We texted back & forth for a little while then stopped. About an hour later she informed me she was about 10 minutes away. Rachel, had just made dinner for everyone that night so I took John upstairs to eat. Right when my mom walks through the door, the doorbell rang & she told one of us to answer the door because she really had to use the restroom. Well, I was already in my pajamas for the night. Rachel & David both refused to get the door, but after I got frustrated with them, they went to answer. I heard the front door open & Rachel & David both said, "Umm, Amber. I really think you need to answer the door!!" So, I get up, immediately thinking that somehow Nathan managed to come back from Afghanistan because seriously, who else would they want me to personally answer the door for? So I peaked around the kitchen doorway corner & walked over to the door. It wasn't open wide enough for me to see who was standing there so I opened it all the way & was completely & utterly shocked to see my best friend, who lives in Idaho, standing there waving at me! I totally screamed & attacked her with huge bear hugs & ended up crying a little bit because I was so shocked... plus I hadn't seen her since she & her husband had their baby 2.5 years ago.

It turns out that when she found out I was going to go through the temple for the first time, she made plans to fly out & surprise me! My parents, Rachel, Nathan & Mandy kept it a secret from me for about a month! Guess I'm gullible for believing a mammogram would last 3 hours. I would say one of the best surprises ever :-)

Anyway, here are some pictures of when we went to Fieldstone Orchard to pick apples. I had a good time experimenting with our new Canon!
